Hindsight

I hate it when I'm sure about something.....
Only to look back and be sorry.
URGH!!

Isn' t this true for everybody?
Hindsight is 20/20.
If we could only see the future..
know exactly how we would feel etc.

Well today I feel nothing but regret.
Nothing HUGE
just feeling like I missed my chance
to record a moment a memory!!

This past weekend Bailee starred in her first leading role
"Anabelle Glick" in "Lucky Stiff"
I personally think she was amazing.
(of course I am not bias in any way)

Anyway, after some thought
we decided not to record the show.
It makes it difficult to watch and enjoy the moment
when your worried about recording.

Now I am full of REGRET!!
I should have at least recorded her solo
and her duets with her leading man.
~heavy heavy sigh~

Oh to have that decision back.

You can never take too many pictures
record too many memories.

So the moral of this post.
Try to never regret decisions or moments
words said or not said
things done or left undone.

Yes, this is a minor regret
a decision that doesn't affect life, love and all that.
One I will get over.
But, how many times in our lives
do we regret big stuff.
I really don't want to look back on these years
and have regrets.
I must be hormonal, I'm feeling all maudlin.

I guess it's inevitable to have regrets
occasionally wish we had reacted,
or acted differently.

Well my goal....
to not have many of these!!

Financially Funded

When you get my age and you start contemplating the reality of putting a child through college, you realize you better have prepared yourself for a huge amount of money.

College is EXPENSIVE!
You have tuition
books
room and board
and other incidentals.
Plus you still have to pay for car insurance and gas unless you plan to leave them stranded. If so hopefully it is a campus where they can walk or ride the bus.

We have been stressing and worrying about the cost of college for a few months now.
Of course we are prepared, this did not come as a surprise. We knew graduation and college would come in 2010. But it's still a worry to think about that amount of money in a time when the economy is in such a decline.

Bailee has been auditioning all over for theatre scholarships.
First she auditioned at BYU for their MDT (musical dance theatre) program.
It is VERY prestigious BUT...NO scholarship money available to freshman.
Then the scholarship auditions to UVU, Weber State, University of Utah and last Snow College. She declined auditions from Dixie, SUU and another from UofU.

We were hopeful...but nothing more because she is a girl and the competition is very stiff for girls. It is about a 10 to 1 ratio. 10 girls audition for every 1 boy. So the odds are not as good for girls.

Saturday while we were in Ephraim for her theatre auditions with Snow College a letter came from Weber State. Full Tuition Scholarship!! YAY YAY YAY!!!
Now we wait.... To see if any other offers come in and then she gets to make an informed decision. We should hear from all the schools by the end of March.

So unless she gets into the BYU program which is very difficult. (They only had 8 slots open and over 100 girls auditioned) So again unless she gets into and decides BYU is the place she absolutely must go...It looks like college is Financially Funded!!

I couldn't be happier or prouder!
Whatever decision she makes she has made us proud with all her hard work and dedication to something she loves and is passionate about. If she gives everything else in her life the same amount of dedication and passion she is going to be a very happy successful person.

A rose by any other name is just as sweet....

Or something like that?!?

I don't profess to say I know Shakespeare.
But I do know my daughter is going to rock at it.

Exciting news for Bailee.
She was cast as Juliet for the Shakespeare competition play.
She is so so excited.
It's off to Cedar City later this month to compete.
The nice thing about this competition, is that they award scholarship money to some participants. Many high schools from the Western United States attend and compete in, short plays, monologues, scenes and dance numbers. She also made the dance group that will compete there as well. She is super excited by this too, because she is only the person NOT a member of the RHS dance company that made this team.

Drama, Drama, Drama!! Really.
My sister asked her if she had to kiss Romeo? Bailee informed her because it's some scenes from Romeo and Juliet and not the whole play, he isn't even in this particular part.
So "NO STAGE KISSING FOR BAILEE"!!
I'm sure this just breaks her heart. Not being able to lip lock with any old random guy.

Back To The 80's

Bailee's high school is performing Back to the 80's
this weekend.
Riverton High Auditorium
Friday, Saturday and Monday
7:00 p.m.
She is totally excited to be doing this
spoof on the 80's.
Singing great 80's music.
She is playing Ilene.
Guess what song gets sung to her?
She also gets to sing a great solo
a rendition of
"Walkin' on Sunshine"
And a Duet with another girl
"Lost in your Eyes"
Plus dancing and singing a lot of group numbers.
Footloose
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Come on Ilene
Love Shack
and more.
These titles take me back.
So does all the talk about big hair
sweater vests, gel shoes and big bows.
We have been enjoying a variety of
80's movies and music at our house,
so she could get it.
The 80's that is.
Now if only the horrible head cold she has contracted
will disappear. SOON!!
Singing and congestion don't mix.

"Straight Superiors"

I am noticing that my blog seems to revolve around the children.
At least what the children seem to be doing.
This must be because for the most part...
as mothers...
our lives revolve around our children.
Not a bad thing at all.
Time enough for self before and after raising children.
So sticking to the theme. I am going to brag about one of mine.
Bailee competed in Dramatic Monologue at the region level today.
She qualified to continue on to state. Wahoo!!
Better than that, she won a medal for "Straight Superiors"!!
She had to perform her monologue 3 different times,
in front of 3 different judges,
with 3 different groups of other competitors.
All 3 judges gave her a superior rating.
Choices, Superior, Excellent, Good and Fair.
Each judge rated them in nine areas, this is a total of 27.
24 out of her 27 were superior. Her final ratings from each judge...
Superior.
So given the past week we have had...It was a Superior Day.
I promise a post all about me...
next time.
Since I will be 40 Sunday.
