She's a BIG girl now!

My first born is officially an adult!
She's a big girl now, today she turned 21!
I can't believe how fast the time has flown.
We started here...

And now she's here...
She was beautiful in the beginning and she has grown even more beautiful every day.
Not only is she beautiful on the outside, but she's beautiful on the inside too.
We are so proud of the young woman she has become.
I really could have scanned and scanned
there were so many fun cute pictures of her over the years I would have loved to post...
But, I restrained myself and chose just a few.
So...pardon the grainy and sometimes off color, these pictures were before the digital age.

He was a proud papa then and he still is today.

 Look at those chubby cheeks.

She loved her tubby time from day one.

Yes, there were times when she wasn't always dolled up
she didn't always wear ruffles, pink, high heels and make-up.
She could sport about anything and look adorable.

Don't mess with this girl.

I had to throw in a picture with her holding her best friend ever..
Barney.
This girl loved Barney.
She sang with him,
danced with him and
slept with him.
He went everywhere with her.

It has been a wonderful 21 years.
Raising her has been a blessing I will be forever grateful for.
We have loved watching her sing and dance her way through life with a smile on her face and a spring in her step.
I have loved the midnight phone calls that started with
"Do I have a story for you?"
Every minute being your mother has been wonderful.

We have watched her grow both physically, mentally and spiritually.
Each step has been fun and a blessing to be a part of.
Now she starts a new phase in life. Eternal Marriage and her own family.
I can't wait to watch and support this phase too.

Thank you for being my daughter and my friend!!
For being and bringing so much joy
I LOVE YOU!

Happy Birthday Bailee Boo!

West Yellowstone Part I

This month we took a family trip to West Yellowstone!
Our main objective in going was to see Bailee perform at the Playmill.
But, while there why not see the United States first
National Park, Yellowstone.

Our first day in the park..

The first animal life we saw...
Bison (Buffalo)
And we saw a lot of them.  Some even caused a traffic problem as they were crossing the road.
It's amazing how BIG these animals are.

Love this one of him scratching his neck on the tree.

Next we were off to Old Faithful.
And after waiting about 90 minutes it didn't fail to amaze us...
The ground rumbles and shakes as it erupts with steam and water.
It really is a sight to behold.

That night we went and saw "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" at the Playmill.
It was our first sighting of Bailee as well. :)
She and the rest of the cast were amazing.

Day two started with Linc and the kids going Horseback Riding.
This was no easy riding they went on small trails way up into the high country.
They loved it.

 Then into the part again
Our goal today to see Biscuit basin.
An area full of active hotpots and all kinds geysers.

One of the most noteworthy pots...
The Sapphire Pool!
What an amazing shade of blue.

Linc and the kids then made a hike to Mystic Falls.

On the way out of the park that evening we saw this...
along the Madison River.
Moose

Then we walked around the town of West with Bailee in her curlers..
Isn't she gorgeous.  She loves this look. ;)

Each evening before the shows open the cast walks the street singing
and inviting people out to see the show.
Here are a few pics of Bailee and her Playmill friends.
Bailee, Jack and Jenni
 Bailee, Addison, Dave, Bryson, Jenni
 The Theatre
We saw Bailee perform in "The Drowsy Chaperone" tonight.
I LOVED it!!
They do a Preshow and a Variety show that are both amazing.
This experience at the Playmill is one of a kind.
It's really family oriented.  The cast even sells you concessions in character.
We enjoyed it so much and hope to return later in the summer
to see Annie Get your Gun.

We didn't really get to see much of Bailee except for her shows Friday and Saturday.
But Sunday is her day off so we have the whole day.
This will be Part II.

She's a Big Girl Now

Before I begin...
Forgive me for bragging...
But it's my blog and I am biased.
Today my firstborn reached a milestone...
~20 years old~
She's a big girl now.
I couldn't be more proud of her.
Bailee is...
Beautiful
Loving
Spiritual
Kind
Happy
Smart
Motivated
Ambitious
and so so much more.
The thing about Bailee that most makes me happy is that she knows who she is.
She knows she is a Precious Daughter of God.
She has a strong testimony of the gospel that is her very own.
She has grown so much the last few years and really has found herself.
She is accepting of others and their differences.
She truly loves people for who they are.
It has been such an example to me in my life
to judge less and accept more.

Bailee has a light within her that shines through.
She truly is an example to those she comes in contact with.
I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing our family
with her sweet spirit.
On a lighter note...
She is away from home for the summer
having the Time of her Life
making new friends, loving old friends and
influencing others for good.
We miss her but are so happy for all she is accomplishing.

Happy Birthday Bailee Boo!!

Fender Bender

A little while ago....
at the beginning of the summer
Linc backed his truck into Bailee's car.
The results, a dented quarter panel and a shattered gas door.
He promised her it would be repaired before she went back to school.

Last week we went to get some bids.
We first went to a local body shop located on Redwood Road for a bid...
1,200.00 big ones!!
Seriously!!  This seemed really steep.
Then a good guy friend of hers told us of a really great guy
who does great work, for a great price.
We met up with him at his shop also in Riverton
and he quoted us $500.00.
Huge Difference~!!
Now...
I don't know if this is because of the friendship of Bailee's
or he is just a fair guy.
Either way decision made to take it into his shop today and get the work done.
We were scheduled to bring the car in today.
We wanted to pay cash to avoid a claim on our insurance.

Yesterday on the way home from I Fly in Ogden
during rush hour on I-15
Bailee was in a small car accident.
Causing significant damage to the front end of her car.
So....
to the body shop we head this morning
with a little more work than expected.
He is going to be doing both repairs now
but not for cash....
This time we had to make a claim on the old insurance.

Hope our premiums don't go up.
We are just grateful know one was hurt.

Date Doctor

This is what I have become lately.
The date doctor.
Even though most times my skills don't require fixing so much as
advising and consulting....well and facilitating.

Homecoming: My to do list.

Help think of creative way to answer yes.
Pick out and buy fabric for jacket.
Make appointment for seamstress to make said jacket.
Take and pick up dress from dry cleaners, so it will be pressed and pretty.
Help pick out and buy appropriate shoes.
Hairdresser. Be it not take her to it.
Photographer.

Results:

The Hair. Easiest, simplest one so far.
Elegant I think.
Jacket, fits perfectly.

One of many photography tries.
Our house has terrible lighting for pictures.
Still the photographer...but mom too. :)
Enjoying the moments.
He was a cute fun date for Bailee.
Their personalities match perfectly.

It was a gorgeous day to match the couple.

Successful date. All is well.
Girls Preference: My duties...
Help think of creative way to ask boy out.
We went with a Rubik's cube. Wrote part of the question on each side of the square then mixed it all up. Put in a cute bag, tie a bow, write message: "Life is a puzzle and so is this."
That's it. That's all he got, well and a web site for solving Rubik's cube in 30 minutes. Pure evil I know...and he still said yes.
Maid. I had to clean Bailee's room because she was out of town and her date wanted to get into it to answer her.
Costume Designer. Yuck!! I loathe Halloween.
Party Planner. All the girls in the group came to our house for a meeting to make plans for day activity and dinner. "Mom, can you come in here and help us think of something fun."
Game Guru. I had to design the day activity scavenger hunt. This was a blast and I kept a copy for any who might be interested. It was a scavenger hunt for signs. Yup street signs, business signs etc. They had to solve the clue and find the sign. Then take a picture of themselves in front of sing. They loved it and it was fun.
Dinner.
Photographer: again.
The room...This picture does not do it justice
it had 800 tootsie rolls EVERYWHERE.
I think they even threw them in the closet.
One had the word yes written inside it.

Bailee and her date went as "Alice in Wonderland"
and the "Mad Hatter"
Both costumes I had to provide.
They ate dinner at the fire station...
Long story involving body bags etc.
It is Halloween after all.

Sadly the only picture I have of the couple are at the fire station
where the light isn't great. It doesn't show off how really cute and amazing they looked.
Fun cute boy too.
How lucky she is to be surrounded by so many fun cute boys.
Date successful again.
Whew.
How many more dates for this date doctor?
It keeps me busy and keeps my mind on a creative bend. I guess?

Prom-e-nade

1. a leisurely walk taken for pleasure, display, etc.
2. a public place for walking 3. a ball or dance
Junior Prom 2009
"Time Of My Life"

Don't they look good, all dressed up in their finery?!
The pictures really don't do them justice.

How about a kiss on the cheek?
This wasn't given without a little laughter.

We have learned a few things about prom.

First: Never and I mean NEVER
get a bang trim the night before the
"biggest dance of your High School Life"
(Direct Quote)

Bailee was needing a tiny bang trim,
so a quick trip to supercuts was in order
because she only had like 15 minutes free
the night before.

DISASTER!! According to Bailee.
I have to agree the lady did a whack job!
This led to a lot of tears and frustration.
What to do?
Never go to supercuts again!!

When we went to get the updo,
she tried to fix the bangs.
They really are too short to do anything with.
So when we arrived at Darla's to get ready ,
It was Meagan to the rescue.
A twist to match the rest of her hair and
Walla, a darling hairdo that looked cute.
No More Tears.

Now she just has to wait for them to grow out...

Second: It's all about the dress!
A girl is a princess in just the right dress.
We had a very successful dress experience,
and when you can find just the right dress...
for just the right price...
Every body's happy...Including DAD!! :)

Third: They still really do the "Promenade"
This is when all the Juniors get to
be announced and walk down the grand staircase
with their date in tow.
Like an old fashioned coming out.
You arrive at the top of the stairs,
Your name is announced,
and you take a leisurely stroll to the bottom.
Smile, it is your moment,
and this is the "Time of your Life"!

Message in a cup...

If you live in the south part of Salt Lake Valley,
And you drove south on Bangerter Highway this weekend,
You might have seen this......
Bailee was thrilled to be asked to prom,
especially by Andrew.
He and Ben used 397 red cups to pop this question.
2 hours, frozen hands and ears later...
WE had ourselves a masterpiece.
Who said having teenagers is a pain.
Were loving it. So much excitement and wonder.

"Sweethearts"

Bailee, went to her first semi-formal Dance..
"Sweethearts"
She was successful in pinning on the boutonniere.
Even after all the worry over it.
He had an easier job according to Bailee...Putting the flower on her wrist.
The cute couple being patient for the endless photos.
Daddy was working so we were ordered to take tons of photos.

Wait....One more picture before you leave.
The group came here after the dance to frost sugar cookies,
have sundaes and play games.
While Bailee was off getting her hair done, Andrew
decorated her room.
200 hearts taped to walls and ceiling...
rose petals covering the bed and floor...
and a few gifts.
Upon finally seeing it squeals could be heard all the way upstairs,
all the teens in the house had to traipse down and admire the work.
It made her feel very special and happy.

Before reluctantly cleaning up the rose petals, she posed
for a darling picture.
It was a great night and a wonderful Valentines day for her.
